Flax making

Weaving for Wellbeing has continued every week running workshops exploring natural materials to create artwork. This week was an exciting session where we introduced the group to Rosie Bistrow, a local flax farmer and artist. Rosie led us through the process of making flax into linen thread! We had the pleasure of working in the Comfrey Project’s polytunnel which was perfect for a cold rainy day. Check out Fantasy Fibre Mill for Rosie’s work with open source textile processing machinery to enable the emergence of a local, decentralised, community-owned textile economy.

Working with artists Savannah Rios-Wills and Saya Naruse in collaboration with The Comfrey Project, Weaving for Wellbeing is a year long project connecting people to nature and the changing seasons through creativity. Further information about the project can be found here.
