Weaving for Wellbeing has continued every week running workshops exploring natural materials to create artwork. The last three weeks the group has walked around the Comfrey gardens and gathered leaves to stitch into; and went for a walk around Saltwell Park to gather sticks in preparation for the following week’s workshop, including a lovely picnic by the lake. Following on from theprevious week they used the sticks they collected to weave with. This was a lovely session where the original activity inspired others to use the materials in other ways, teaching the group crafts from their mother country.
Working with artists Savannah Rios-Wills and Saya Naruse in collaboration with The Comfrey Project, Weaving for Wellbeing is a year long project connecting people to nature and the changing seasons through creativity. Further information about the project can be found here.
Weaving for Wellbeing is funded by an Arts Council Project grant. Photography by @sayarosemedia
